  1. First of all, know what your law’s for raccoon trapping in your city. In some States and cities, it is illegal to trap and removal raccoons on your own. Most States require that you have a license from Department of Fish & Wildlife. A trapping license allows you to trap and relocate raccoons.

  2. Know what you are going to do with a captured raccoon. Relocate yourself or call a raccoon removal company for pickup.

  3. Identify where raccoons are most active on your property. That area is where you would want to set up your raccoon traps.

  5. Test Traps! Make sure everything is functioning properly. Be sure to set the trap on a flat, stable surface for testing.

  7. Set or load raccoon trap door up with the bait placed slightly under the trigger plate. Then set the trap on a flat surface to avoid any wobbles that might trigger the trap door.

  8. Check the trap. You probably want to check the trap every four hours until raccoon is captured in the trap. Raccoons are nocturnal and will most likely be caught at night.  (If traps are set in the attic, check them every hour! Attics get too hot for a trapped raccoon)
